Schedule (updated 3/24/2010):
For those staying in Port St. Joe, we will use the Port Inn as a gathering point each morning. If any paddlers are staying outside of Port St. Joe, we will coordinate as needed depending on the paddle location. We will plan to leave the Port Inn at 8:00 am on Friday and Saturday morning. The Port Inn is located on the corner of Hwy 71 and Hwy 98 in Port St. Joe. Note: All times in the plan are Eastern Daylight Savings, EDT.
Thursday, 4/8
We will meet at Dead Lakes Park on Hwy 71 just north of Wewahitchka, FL at 1:00 pm EDT to coordinate a short paddling trip.
Friday, 4/9
We will launch at 9:00 am EDT and paddle along Cape San Blas at St. Joseph Peninsula State Park. We can stop at various points along the Cape to explore inland. There are some great vistas atop massive sand dunes that provide a spectacular 360 degree view of the Cape. It's a 15 mile round trip paddle to reach the point. The point is a bird sanctuary with many different species to enjoy.
Saturday, 4/10
We will launch at 9:00 am EDT on Depot Creek and have the option of paddling 9, 12, or 21 miles. Depending on the duration of the Depot Creek paddle, for Saturday afternoon we can launch from Indian Pass and paddle over to explore the bayside of St. Vincent Island. The island also has numerous foot trails for some inland exploration. Bring bug (specifically mosquito) spray if you plan on exploring inland.
Sunday, 4/11
In the morning, we can paddle a different route at Dead Lakes on the way home.
Please register for the trip or post your intention to participate on the forum, so we can insure you are included in the paddles, dinners, etc. If anyone needs additional information, contact Shane Jones using the email link above or the his cell phone, 706-315-7113.
