Good Things to Know

The park is located 50 miles from a major grocery store.  Visitors should bring all supplies with them and have plenty of gasoline in their vehicle. The park office sells drinks, snacks, ice, books, gifts and t-shirts.

Cell phone service may be unreliable.

Be aware that the park gate closes at 10:00 PM and will not be opened until morning. It is about a 5 mile walk from the gate to the cabin area so don't get caught out after 10 or plan on getting there late!

There is a $5.00 fee per car for access to the park. There are no launching fees for use of the ramp.

Sunrise: ~ 7:00 AM           Sunset: ~ 6:30 PM

Schedule (updated 1/27/10):

Thursday

Early arrivals will be on their own for dinner but if you plan on arriving Thursday and would like to get together Thursday night please contact John W, 706-580-8725, late Thursday afternoon (will be in swamp Tuesday through Thusday).

You are welcome to explore the trails and get in an afternoon paddle if you would like to reconnoiter a bit.

Friday

Breakfast on your own.

Safety/trip meeting at 8:00 AM at the park's boat ramp area with a group launch at 8:15 AM.

The paddling route(s) will be decided Thursday night with options for shorter and longer paddles.  Those not wishing to join the group will be on their own.

Lunch will be planned for early afternoon, hopefully in a place where we will be able to get out and stretch our legs a little.

Dinner will be an "Open Grill" held at one of the Picnic Shelters beginning at 7:00 PM.  We will have a grill fired up and anyone wanting to grill something please bring it. Side dishes will be up to the individual but bring a little extra so you can share!  Of course alcohol is prohibited in the park so if you bring anything to imbibe, please make sure it is not obvious!  BYOB
